In Hebrew, Tichon means “high school.” What a perfect match for the Monday night
post-b’nei mitzvah program! Tichon is a place for students to gather together for a meal, and then choose their own learning path from a list of innovative classes. In the 2007-2008 year, Tichon offered new courses such as American Jewish History through Music, In-Depth Torah Study, and Looks, Love, & Life: a Guide for Teenagers on Making Jewish Decisions about their Bodies and Relationships.
Our Confirmation students have the opportunity to travel to Washington, DC for the L'Taken program hosted by the Religious Action Center where students learn about Jewish perspectives on national issues, and have time to lobby local congressmen.
Rabbinic Intern Joel Thal Simonds teaches the post-confirmation students. His class will be a safe space for students to explore personal issues and hot topics (such as piercings, drugs, relationships, and eating disorders) through a Jewish lens.
