Chapter Two encompasses empty nesters and those approaching empty nest status. Its mission is to create entertaining programs that promote social, religious and cultural interaction among – but not limited to – that demographic. All are welcome. The group was formed in response to a perceived gap in programming and community-building events that existed between activities for families with young children at one end of the congregational spectrum and members of the Silver Generation at the other.
To date, Chapter Two has based most of its activities at the synagogue. A program typically includes a Havdalah service, followed by a brief educational talk, dinner, and often some form of entertainment centered around that evening’s theme.
Future events will include a mix of synagogue-based and off-site gatherings. Programs will vary in scope and scale, but a successful Chapter Two event will always include elements of Judaism, education, entertainment, and fun.
